Milestone
Alright, folks, time for another one of my little "state of the board" posts.
Dave's World was launched on Memorial Day. Less than two weeks ago, the site was at 12,000 page views total. Wednesday night, it surpassed the 20,000 mark. As of this writing it is closing in on 21,000.
Honestly ... thank you. I mean it. OK, I've drawn in nine weeks what something like foxports.com probably gets in a minute, but I'm legitimately grateful that there are people out there that apparently enjoy my strange little world enough to visit the site and keep coming back.
Of course, car crashes draw big crowds of gawkers, too.
Anyway, this has been a lot of fun so far, so thanks for coming along for the ride.
A few programming notes:
*Sunday, we'll have the latest installment of Matt's Dispatches from Iraq (Saturday, I'm sure I'll post about Scooter or Mexican wrestling or something). I chatted with Matt over IM for the first time in awhile tonight and he wanted to thank everyone who has sent him email over the past two months.
*Saturday, August 20, we will be doing the second Dave's World Ultimate Fighting Championships live running diary. The first was for UFC 53 back in June. UFC 54, from Las Vegas, will be main-evented by a light-heavyweight championship match between "The Iceman" Chuck Lidell, who is making his first title defense; and maverick challenger Jeremy Horn. Horn is one of just three fighters who owns victories over Lidell, the others being former light heavyweight champs Tito Ortiz and Randy "The Natural" Couture.
*I have some plans for the site I'm looking to roll out in September, which should include regular pro and college football content and more columnists. Stay tuned. And thanks again for checking in.
