Boston Sports Review
*I have my debut column up on the Boston Sports Review website. BSR is the free magazine you see around Boston in boxes along with papers like the Phoenix and the Weekly Dig. If you're in Boston and you haven't read it yet, you really should check it out, they've done a nice job carving out a niche for themselves in a crowded market.
The first column is on Manny Ramirez. "Oh sure, that's an original idea Dave," you're thinking. Well, hang on a minute. I'm writing about the one aspect of Manny's game that hasn't been relentlessly picked apart yet -- his fielding. Here's a sample:
Manny should field compliments
By Dave Doyle
Contributing columnist
Have you heard? Manny Ramirez is a terrible left fielder. Pass it on.
If everyone keeps regurgitating that outdated little gem, perhaps Ramirez's fielding reputation will never change. Red Sox opponents will continue to test his arm and continue to get thrown out.
A forest has been clear-cut over the years in the name of armchair psychoanalysis of Manny, both for his big bat on the field and the little world he inhabits off it. An examination of his fielding game? Usually dismissed with a wave of the hand: Manny is an awful fielder. End of story.
Or is it?

And if you're visiting here for the first time thanks to the BSR link, drop me a line. Say hi. I always have time to talk to people from Boston.
