Impromptu running boxing diary:
I am mesmerized by the crappiest heavyweight fight I've seen in quite some time, on ESPN2. Two white guys from New York, completely gassed in the second round, alternating wild swings with enough clutching and grabbing to make the 1995 New Jersey Devils envious. This is awesome. This is spectacularly awful. Greco-Roman wrestling has less clutching. The ref apparently thinks he is officiating Greco-Roman wrestling, since they're doing it right in front of him. One guy is a former minor league pitcher; the other is a 31-year old banker. And they're main eventing on national TV. Zero skill being displayed. What has this sport come to? The pitcher floored the banker twice in the first round. The banker's glove is coming off in the third, so they momentarily stop the fight. The banker drops his guard and the baseball player clobbers him with a wild haymaker to finish it in early in the fifth. Wow. That was the most perversly entertaining spectacle I've stumbled upon in quite some time.
