UFC 53: Parysian vs. Serra
Rogan to a still-bleeding Tanner: What's next for you? Tanner: How about letting my face heal up and ask me then?
Alrght, Karo "The Heat" Parysian, from Armenia, is going against Matt the Terra Serra, from Long Island. 170 pounders.
Round 1 -- Terra nails Parysian right off the top and spends the next 30 seconds mercilessly pummeling him with a series of punches. Parysian shakes it off and gets up, showing no ill-effects. WOW. Serra hits another round of shots and Parysian stays on his feet.
*Signal goes in and out. Frickin' DirecTV*
Serra's daring Parysian to hit him. Eventually he's going to open himself up for a wide-open punch. They are seriously yapping at each other. Mostly Serra doing the talking. Signal going in and out again. Parysian hits a kick and a few shots, then takes Serra down. Parysian mounts Serra from behing and starts pummeling him, but Serra rolls with it. Round ends with a bunch of Parysian punches.
GREAT round of fighting. Parysian shook off the early punches and came on strong at the end, so I'm giving it to him.
Round 2 -- Ref calls time early, there's a problem with one of Serra's gloves. Parysian tackles Serra and Serra goes into the guard. Serra's up, pushed against the fence. They try to throw each other and both tumble to the mat. Both standing again. Serra's not taunting him anymore. Lot of circling around happening. Parysian lands on top of Serra and starts pounding him with punches and elbows. Round 2 also goes to Parysian.
Round 3 -- Parysian looks to cinch in an armlock, Serra spins out and tried to lock his opponent's knee, but he's gassed. Parysian's back on top of him and getting his shots in. Serra is going to need a walk-off home run to win this one. Parysian looks like he's just not trying to do anything dumb and Serra looks like he wants to hang on for the distance without tapping. Serra gets on top of Parysian late, but can't get in a last-minute submission. Gotta be Parysian's fight.
